Dr. Kristina Stefka, on-site physician and medical director at Life Care Center of Cheyenne, Wyoming, received the Physician of the Year Award for Life Care Centers of America’s Mountain States Division on July 1, 2015.
Facility leaders presented the award to her during the center’s staff meeting.
Stefka began serving at Life Care Center of Cheyenne in April 2012. Since she took on this pioneer role, she has gone out of her way to familiarize community providers with the services available at the facility, which has led to great relationships with local hospitals and the improvement of transitions of care for the facility’s residents.
Stefka was also praised for her humble attitude, the ability to help everyone around her succeed and for providing education and mentorship to the state’s physician residency program.
“She consistently goes above and beyond in the pursuit of high-quality care,” shared Bryan Merrell, executive director of Life Care Center of Cheyenne. “She truly believes in our mission and wants the facility to be successful.”
Stefka recently helped to streamline and improve the congestive heart failure program by collaborating with the facility’s therapists and nurses.
Life Care Centers of America also presented awards to six other division winners and a company-wide winner.
“Physicians play a pivotal role in the care of our residents,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president, “and we are proud to honor those who stand out in their commitment and their compassion to ensure the health and well-being of those entrusted to them.”
